Celebrating Lighthouse Week

The first week of August, we celebrated Lighthouse Week.It was a great opportunity to learn more about the lighthouses of Puerto Rico and their importance in our history and culture.

To kick-off the celebration, we hosted a movie night in the Cabezas de San Juan Natural Reserve, where we showed the documentary “15 Faros Puerto Rico”, by Sonia Fritz. The film chronicles the history of the lighthouses in Puerto Rico, the important role they play in our culture and our history and showcases the beauty of the various lighthouses across the island. It also explores the mysterious disappearance of many of these historic structures over the years and the impact the loss of these monuments has had on Puerto Ricans. It is definitely a must-see!
