The update of the plan is an opportunity to address the most recent climate, social, and public policy challenges at both local and global levels.
Para la Naturaleza begins the year with a period of estivation. Inspired by biomimicry, estivating is one of the concepts that will be implemented in the new 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. The update of the plan is an opportunity to address the most recent climate, social, and public policy challenges at both local and global levels, as well as to review objectives and update methodologies to continue the conservation and education efforts that have been the pillars of the organization.
The proposed plan has been structured following an extensive review of the scope and challenges of the previous 2019-2023 Strategic Plan, while also integrating the current ecological, social, political, economic, and cultural context that demands a rethinking of priorities and working strategies. This proposal focuses on five principles:
- Climate resilience
- Inherent Rights of Nature
- Inclusive historical narratives and restorative justice
- Regenerative economies
- Interdisciplinary and solidarity-based alliances and networks
In the new Strategic Plan, Para la Naturaleza expands its mission to protect biodiversity and promote an ecological culture through conservation actions and restorative history to foster fair, equitable, and integrated coexistence between human and non-human communities in Nature. As part of this new plan, the collective well-being of all the mentioned communities is emphasized, starting with the internal team of the organization.
Looking for models and inspiration in the care and transformation processes inherent in nature, or biomimicry, the organization will enter a period of estivating— a survival strategy used by certain organisms that enter a state of retreat, especially those that inhabit warm environments, to endure difficult periods, mutate, adapt, and survive.
